I got the BETA and I have played it
I think the positives outweigh the negatives but the biggest negative is that you cannot LEAN around corners! This is a big deal to me. I have always leaned in WAW and in BF2 but you cannot here. I hope they put this back into BF3.
WHen you play as the Russians you parachute in which is great. You can see all the action in the valley before you. You will be shot at by some AAA from the ground as you come down. Then you get hold of a buggy to zip quickly down, some armor, or just walk. I saw a lot of snipers. Not a lot of ppl play the medic but that will change soon I think. Medics are very important. The buildings and trees are destructable. I died when a tree fell one me once. Smile

You can cut through the chain link fences.
I will play again tonight. If anyone else got it why don't you give us your opinion? I'd like to hear it.

I like the idea of destructables and all, however I think they could have done a much better job. For example, cutting the chain link fence means swinging your knife and the fence explodes away from you. When you are running away from a tank and behind a concrete wall and the tank fires at the wall, the wall explodes in whatever direction, instead of some of the wall going in towards the inside of the room. You shoot a tree at the base with the M40A1 sniper rifle and the tree just falls over, yet you can't shoot through tin fence material... Overall though I have enjoyed the game, moreso as something else to occupy my time. Hopefully the release comes through a little more polished.

I played it and I cancelled my pre-order as a result. I will not be buying this game. I do not like how your player interacts from the controls. COD series movement is way much nicer. No prone, hold down key to stay in crouch position and hold down to sprint. It has nice graphics but the gameplay sucks.

Perhaps it may be premature to pass a verdict on the Beta version.

Perhaps you're right. Based on what I've played so far, I will not spend any of my money to play it. It needs a major overhaul before I'll change my mind. I'm OK with COD WaW..

I had to mess around a lot with sensitivity settings to make it play in a manner I felt comfortable in. However agreed I will not be spending my money on it.

I must admit I was a CoD fanboy since cod1 but not after seeing the failures of modern crapfare2. I now see IW had been planning the fail since CoD4. CoD1 pimp, CoD UO awesome, CoD2 super, CoD4 modern not my taste but good, CoD5 meh, CoD MW2 Fails. It is apparent that IW has tried to make CoD a failing franchise for pc gamers. It has went downhill since the start. If you want to play the best CoD, its the first or maybe second in the series. Now with that said Ive played most of the fps titles out there including the battlefield series.

Havent any of you guys played any of the other BF titles? BF 1943, BF2, SW BF's? Especially if you had played BF2 you would not have been surprised by this games capabilities. Its pretty much the same game with destructible environments, unlocks, and maps. The game play is gonna be pretty much what it is now. No leans, No sprint strafing (youre just gonna have to turn). The game will feature expansive battlefields. The bigger the server the same map will open more area for more people to occupy. No tiny maps like dome. Excellent land, air, and sea vehicles. Better team cohesion and spawning for teamwork. No freakin random spwans. And classes for gods sake. I cant believe RTCW and BF are the only games to support true transparent teamwork. Its nice to run up to an assault guy thats been holding down a flag for 5 mins and load him up on ammo and provide him support. Or spawing in a jeep with your squad and not having to run around like an idiot trying to find where the hell they went.

Bugs? Its beta the version they are working on is not the version they are playing. They wont make it play like CoD so fanboys forget about that happening. The fixes will involve the server brower, multiplayer options, toggles, a console, punkbuster, server side improvements, the player rankings server, and general ui fixes. The meat of its here only 'fixes' will be done, its too late in development to make it another game. So it is what it is.

Now keep in mind this is from ~30 mins of gameplay and my extensive time playing BF2 and SW BF's. But I could tell as soon as I got in the game ran and killed somebody it had that BF feeling of goodness. I only had the original BF2 not any of the expansions. They could have easily ruined the game with the 3 or 4 expansions they made for it, I dont know. But from what I can tell this will be a standalone like the previous bad company. Nobody likes to buy expansions anyway...

I played BF42 and all of the expansion packs that went with it and I loved those games. The feel of the gameplay does not remind me of any of those games that I enjoyed playing for so long. They need to fix the bullet kill issue and controls IMHO.

I loved BF2 other than a few UI quirks and modern style. i still prefer the old days war style of content over the modern junk. But I also put game quality, balancing, and playability over eye candy or newness. Maybe the next BF1943 will be better, but I bet it will just be a re-skinned BF BC2. Fingers crossed.
