Well Zhukov the day we talked about has finally come.  The computer got hit by a combination of a trojon and a worm virus all at once.  Soon as I noticed something was wrong I turned off the computer and went into safe mode and turned off my wireless to keep anything from being transferred to where ever the worm wanted to take it.  Went into safe mode and tried to run multiple AV programs and nothing could be done, some self protect program would cancel out the scan and shutdown the program.  So I went ahead and hard shut down and hopped on my laptop and ordered Windows 7 64-bit Home.  Didn't see anything in the Pro/Ultimate versions that tickled my fancy.  So it'll be a few days before anyone sees me doing any sort of video games.

Dang man that sucks. Were you on XP? The Ultimate has the Backup utility which gives me a piece of mind in case something like waht happened to you happens. I can just reinstall from the image file. Windows 7 is great and you'll love it.

Yea I was on XP Professional.  Not too worried about the backup utility.  I keep everything on a set of external drives that are mirrored copies of each other, than I also have an external server box with a redundant raid setup with another backup on it.  However, I used this as an opportunity to do an upgrade to Windows 7.  My most recent stuff IE personal files, photos etc are kept on the externals and are up to date as of yesterday.  So I won't be missing anything important.  I already have my e-mails backed up and all my financials.  So Friday Windows 7 will be here and I'll be "up to date" I was gonna pick up another set of memory but the set of sticks I bought a few months back that I was gonna match to went from $45 all the way to $100...  Soo screw that...

I can't believe how much memory increased in pricing lately. More people are upgrading I think.
